“Akulina” at DOU: How an AI Agent Became the Heart of SharksCode’s HR Processes

On the DOU platform, SharksCode’s CTO published a case study on the implementation of the AI agent “Akulina,” which automated the bulk of onboarding and routine HR requests.

In the article “How We Implemented an AI Agent in HR: Architecture, RAG, and Onboarding Automation,” our experts explained how they transitioned from a traditional chatbot to two AI agents: an onboarding agent and the internal HR consultant “Akulina.” She answers typical questions from new hires, processes vacation requests, freeing the HR team from routine tasks and allowing them to focus on strategic priorities.

A key element was the RAG architecture, featuring a consolidated corporate knowledge base indexed in a vector store, as well as integrations with the HRIS, payroll system, calendar, and Jira. According to the CTO, “Akulina” already handles at least 45% of onboarding, cuts the onboarding time in half, reduces HR operating costs by 30–40%, and increases employee retention.

“An AI agent shouldn’t be just ‘window dressing for a presentation’; it should drive real-world metrics. For us, Akulina is about retention, about accelerating new hires’ transition to full productivity, and about how we remove routine tasks from processes, freeing people up for more important work,” comments Stanislav Andreev, COO of SharksCode.
By 2026, SharksCode aims to establish itself as a technology leader where AI becomes a core tool not only in products but also in HR processes.
